Let us dive into the accessibility review for Chester Zoo in Wales:
Chester Zoo is fully accessible. Visitors with wheelchairs, mobility scooters and limited mobility are accommodated by many aspects that are in place, including but not limited to:
Free disabled parking at the main entrance.
Free entry for carers (see website for more information).
Accessible pathways.
Free wheelchair and electric scooter hire, subject to a £25 refundable deposit (see website for more information)
Accessible toilet facilities including changing spaces inside the Jubilee toilets with a hoist, adjustable bed and sink.
A wheelchair lift is available at the Realm of the Red Ape house for those who will struggle to use the ramp.
Our Lazy River Boat Trip has wheelchair access (electric scooters are not allowed, however if possible they can offer the use of a wheelchair for your boat trip).
Many animal habitats have multiple viewing points
Chester Zoo also acknowledge the Sunflower Scheme and many members of staff are trained to recognise the symbol and offer assistance where needed. For those of you who aren’t aware of the sunflower scheme, search for this in my blogs or go to the website:
For visitors who prefer not to visit places during the busier times, I suggest you avoid school holidays and weekends when possible.
Please message me if you need more information
